First of all, I want to wish my parents a Happy 35th Anniversary!!!! I also want to thank you both for providing such a wonderful example of what marriage should be…through the many ups and downs of life, you have remained true to each other, your values, your commitments, and your family…I could not have asked for better parents. I hope you have a wonderful day! Love to you both!!!
Well, our weekend was a whirlwind of activity and fun. We had a nice visit with my Grandma on Friday night and Saturday morning. She had spent 2 weeks with my parents in Texas and her return flight got in late Friday night. I offered to pick her up and give her a place to stay the night. We spent a leisurely morning around the table visiting, and then she came to the grocery store with me as I picked up the last minute things for the party. It was so nice to have some time to talk to her!
That afternoon Chad (our brother in law) helped finish up some things on the car while Hope (my sister) and I got things set up for the party. We had a great time Saturday night at the party! We had a good group of friends and family and we just hung out in the garage talking and watching the IA game. Our friends Blake and Amy brought down homemade ice cream, and we enjoyed that along with lots of good munchies! We just really enjoyed having everyone over and hanging out…it was SOO good!!

Sunday morning we headed up to Ankeny and hooked up with our friends Larry and Jay and the rest of the area cruisers. They have such a big group of cruisers there…it is always so neat to walk amongst all the hotrods!!! The boys got all loaded up and took off with the cruise to Stratford. Hope, little Matthew, and I headed up as well and met them in Stratford to walk around and see all the cars there. The stop in Stratford is always one of my favorite parts! Larry’s parents also joined the group this year, for the first time and it was fun to have them along as well. Matt has been telling me about Larry’s dad’s Pontiac Grand Prix for years…so it was fun to see it in person.

After leaving Stratford, we headed on up towards Fort Dodge. Just a few miles before the exit, we pulled over to watch the cruisers go by. Many of them would honk and wave at us! It is always so exciting to watch them rumble by…I guess you have to be the kind of person who appreciates that stuff…but we do and we loved it! We saw the boys coming up in the Trans Am and waved and honked like crazy! They all had big smiles on their faces! Jay was driving, Matt was in the front seat, and Chad was crammed in the back! Three peas in a pod! Priceless! (Chad was happy he got to drive the TA after dropping Jay off in Ankeny on the way home….which we let him EVEN THOUGH he was wearing a Mustang T-shirt!) We enjoyed the show, hanging out and looking at the cars. Derek took Matt around in the golf cart, to see all the cars…he had a great time!
All in all, it was a really good weekend. We had so much fun spending time with our friends and family…we look forward to doing more fun stuff (like FONDUING with our cousins!!!!!!!!) in the near future!
